Total Cost of an iPhone in Singapore

My predictions for the cost of an iphone were not far off!

i expected high cost but this time singtel is really pushing it.

Somehow i still see alot of users getting the iPhone. I for one will stay away from the iPhone until there is more competition out there. The price of the iphone will definately drop in the next few months when starhub and M1 start getting their hands on the iPhone.

Total Cost of an iphone

iFlexi Value (SGD$56)

* 300 MB Data

* 500 SMS
iFlexi Plus (SGD$95)
* 8GB: SGD$49 + 95 x 24 = 2329
* 16GB: SGD$208 + 95 x 24 = 2488

* 500 MB Data
* 500 Mins Outgoing Voice
* 500 SMS

    most people don’t know that you can get the iphone with singtel’s normal price plans. i got my 16gb white for $798, with ione plus coupled with bbom1000 (50gb data), for $36 a month. with that, the total cost of ownership over 2 years is $1662 - still steep, but not as expensive as the figures u published. don’t get the iflexi plans! they are crap value.

    in any case, just take heart that sg prices are among the cheapest in the world for iphone already. don’t believe me, you can go over to AT&T’s iphone plans page, take a look and do some conversion. their cheapest monthly plan is a whooping US$69.99 - converted will be SG$100!! total cost of ownership over 2 years will be US$299+24(69.99) = $1978.76 = SG$2826.65.

    so much for their US$199/299 pricing huh.

    but then, once u get microsoft exchange configured and see your smu email and calendars pushed to your iphone…. i tell you, u’ll totally forget whatever price you paid for this thing. hahah.

    remember to update your mac manual re. the smu smb printer settings! please don’t let our fellow mac users (since most of them really couldn’t be bothered about the technical aspects that’s why they buy mac in the first place) still have to go thru so many hoops (finding their ip address, etc) just to print.
