Realized that many people are googling this and finding this post. i will give an update on the issue.

The “solution” posted below didnt 100% solve it for me. battery life improved (not 1% drain per 3mins but 1% drain per 15mins) but not to pre 4.1 levels.

i got fed up and did a restore without using backup. You can find that option in itunes. After that i synced it with my itunes for songs apps etc and now it works fine.

I hear mixed results from this. but do give it a try or 2.

My phone can now last for at least 1.5-2 days on medium usage.

When i updated to 4.1 the battery drain was insane! My phone was 50% to 10% in 2 hours.

I had a search around the net and found some talk on the apple forums.

This is the solution for me…

1. Launch game center and log off (sign out of your game center account and press the middle button after)
2. Do a hard reset (press the top and bottom button together and hold it there for 20s till the apple logo appears)

Worked like a charm

A bit more information. I have an app MemoryInfo which shows the running processes. I have found that gamesd and another games process was running. I started the games app, logged out of the account, restarted and no gamesd is running.
I have skype installed but not running and it has a demon process but not sure what for.
I’ll charge the phone back up and see what happens.

So we are quitting the game center process!

After a few more days of using this gadget here are my thoughts

1. Calls can be dropped by holding it the “wrong” way but it only happens in low signal strength areas (my room). Not all the time though.
2. Battery life is not that great, it sure can last for an entire day out with heavy use (gaming, music, 3g) but 2 days is pushing it.
3. Camera is so so, even with 5MP night shots are not very impressive. Otherwise its a good portable camera.
4. Speed of the device is insane, even users who used 3Gs were impressed. Loading of 250 page pdfs are quick and navigate without lag.
5. Singtel’s 3G network is fast, but did encountered places with no coverage and slow load times.
6. It is impossible to use finish a 12 GB dataplan, unless u tether on a regular basis.
7. 4square is a retarded mobile game.
8. WLAN, VPN settings for the iPhone 4 work and were posted earlier.
9. Bought my first app. Whatsapp. Was so simple to buy that it scared me. Just 1 click and 99 cents USD is gone.
